February Wrap up

February was a pretty good month for reading even if it was only 28 days! I have read 4 books and only did not finish (DNF) 2 so that is a win and I had two 5 star reviews, one 4 star review and a 3 star review.

So, to start off my wrap up post lets discuss the books I did not finish. The first book I DNF was Percy Jackson and the Olympians book 2: The Sea of Monsters. This one was an audio book and I just wasn’t in the mood to listen to one at the moment and will go back to it another time when I want to spend more time paying attention to an audio book again. The second book was Love Unending by Becky Thompson. It had many good tips on how to keep your marriage afloat while raising kids but ended up being more religious than I would like. I will be passing this down to someone else who wants to check it out.

Now for the books that I’ve read and what I’ve rated them. I won’t be going into much detail on why I rated them what I did but if you would like to find out more about my reviews check out my about page and click on my instagram or goodreads page from there! Next month’s book reviews will be on the blog under the Book Reviews category tab!

Book one was A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. I rated this book 5 stars. I was a bit nervous as I always am when I pick up a book that has had as much hype as ADSOM had but it definitely lived up to all the hype I read! It was a great story with great character development and I can’t wait to finish the rest of the series.

Book two was One Summer Day in Rome by Mark Lamprell which was a book club read for Happily Ever Adventures.  I rated this one 3 stars because I found “Rome” being the narrator to be a little awkward, I think if it was just a regular 3rd person narrator it would have read better. Also, although I love history and the history of Rome is one of my favorites to learn about (I took Latin in high school) some of the history that they included did not make sense with the story line.

Book 3 that I finished is a little different than my usual reads but I still count it. It was called Breaking the Vicious Cycle by Elaine Gottschall. This is non-fiction and focuses on gut health. I have been very interested in healthy diets and Breaking the Vicious Cycle is very informative on gut issues and how diet plays an important part in gut health. I rated this one 4 stars.

The final book of the month that I finished was probably my favorite of all the books that I’ve read this month and if I could rate it more than 5 stars I totally would have! It was Love and other Trainwrecks by Leah Konen. I had the hardest time putting it down and if I didn’t have kids I probably would’ve finished it within a day or two at most. If you enjoy reading contemporary young adult romance check this one out!
